with these parts, plus Windows Vista, a keyboard, mouse and such, this build will cost around $1600. if there are any parts that you think i should change, please keep in mind that i dont plan on going over a total of $2000, thx :)

and i have some specific questions, just to make sure everything fits and stuff:
1. i want to make sure that my RAM and processor work well with my mobo... i read somewhere(i dont remember where) that AM2 slotted mobos dont work well or something? i didnt think this was true, but i just wanted to make sure... and i also read that some brands of RAM seem to be picky about which mobos they work well with.

2. does my power supply seem to be a decent brand? i was looking at some lists on the internet and XG doesnt seem to be on any of them. i just really would hate to fry my brand new parts with a bad brand PSU...

3. do i need MORE fans? the case comes with 3 and the graphics card has one built onto it... i read in some reviews that the case fans werent very powerful. but, with 4 total fans, shouldnt that be enough?

well i would go with a toledo core btu i dont know what options u have with am2, a million people are gonna come in bashing how u dont have conroe but i guess if you built that list on ur own uve compared both options. and i would go with sony dvd/cd drive or LG or toshiba i think all very good, some sony's are lite-ons on the inside so read reviews, or go with that lightscribe one, thats pretty cool stuff
woah 7800gt, thats a no no but ill have someone else explain that im not good with all the new ati options, but definatly get atleast 7900gt over the 7800gtx. especially now that they are almost all after the buggy stages
im prety sure they have that ram at stock 240 pin speed for fairly cheaper, look for that

if u want amd i would stick for a 939 setup, ive never built a am2 but i think they are alot more money for same things, just am2 is brand new and will be more future proof(yea right amd)

o and that psu is fairly new and i dont know btu it looks pretty bad for $90 for 10 more go with hiper 580w, the chrome has red cables if ur looking for red.

and what is the grand total? it should be anywhere close to 2k

NO CORSAIR MEMORYYYYYYYYYYYY AHHHHHHH

had a bad experience.... go for g skillz, patriot, OCZ, etc

but corsair memory.... all the sticks i've gotten have screwed up my life as much possible.... ruined one of my sockets, ruined a deal i had w/ a fighting irish (who never dies - lol), forced me to reformat my disk DURING FINALS WEEK, slept with my gf...
just bad stuff IMO

make sure to order ur mobo before you buy the RAM... mobos are very picky sometimes especially new-ish ones

good luck

^^ really corsair? huh wierd...

that is their best stuff for the buck, but yea Gskill is really awsome too, ocz is good for midlevel speed and cost, i doubt xms2 will give u problems

yea i know... i went with corsair because of its name and price and stats.......

im sure if he bought it it wouldn't give him as much trouble (i got the same ram only the xms for ddr400 - twinxms2148?)

nice computer though..

And now I'm the one who comes in to recommend the Core 2 Duo. You could get a system that knocks that one out of the water by changing the CPU to the C2D e6300/e6400, and the Gigabyte DS3 motherboard.

I also agree with rather getting the 7900GT over the 7800GTX. Basically the same card, based on a smaller manufacturing process. I performs slightly better than the 7800GTX, and it's cheaper.

The rest looks okay

hm... i was looking at the Gigabyte DS3 with nForce 570 SLI motherboard, but it only supports DDR2 667 RAM, not DDR2 800. will this make a big difference? because 667 is a little slower than 800, correct?

and are lite-on combo drives generally bad? i found one that gets 5/5 star reviews(only 3 people though...) if they are bad, an IDE combo drive should still work if my motherboard has PATA, right?

Well, I asume you are going to game on this machine. I just get you change three things other than the ramm.

You said you can go up in brice. This is the best setup you can have. Amd sucks right now and I love the company. Here is to prove it. This mobo is very good and stable on overclocking. The gpu you picked is ok but ati is the best right now. It will be about 50 more but it is mell worth it. You can get the 1900xt for around $300 but you have enough money, maybe.

sorry, im going to have to say no the the graphics card and the motherboard... the motherboard doesnt have SLI and the graphics card isnt nVidia(which i like very much). but thanks for showing me the processor, i cant believe i missed it.

i would go conroe and at least a 7900gt or 1900xt, you could build something a lot faster for less $$$$$
