I just built a new computer for a friend and it keeps freezing at the Windows logo startup screen.
I have checked everything including a new install of Windows. I checked the ram with Memtest for 6 hours. I checked the drivers, however something is weird. The Ethernet has a yellow question mark on it and says that no drivers are found for this device.
Should I repair the Windows installation? What could it be? Please help.
This problem happens about half the time he tries to boot up, so for the meantime I have told him not to shut off his computer.

I've installed all the latest drivers and Windows XP Pro came with Service Pack 2. What else could it be? Should I do a Windows Repair?

hahahahah drizo i love ur avatar :)

but my suggestion - check power cords and SATA/ATA wires, had some trouble w/ that a while back

also especially asus boards, but a lot of them get really picky w/ network ports. try to disable all the "features" such as the onboard sound, video (if applicable), all LAN ports, all external devices, etc

if not, does safemode start up normal?
