after I empty my recycle bin of unwanted files (ahhemm) how do I permently wipe them from the hdd with having to format the drive? I am limited on funds (hell, I'm broke).

There is a program made by Steganos(http://www.steganos.com/) called File Shredder which permanantly deletes files from your Hard Disk. Im not sure if you can get it seperate but it is packaged with Steganos Internet Anonym 6.0. which is $50 which you download it from Kazaa or some file sharing program. Otherwise download the trial from http://www.steganos.com/ and get a serial from ******. Hopefully you can find File Shredder by itself...;)

Good Luck

thank you. I think I posted too fast cuz (and I've done this before) I got one called CyberScrub which is now in the process of wiping the free space from both drives. I'm just using the trial version.

Just a piece of advice, especially if you don't like adware and hijacking and trojans stay away from places like crack.am and thats just aside from the legality issues. I have been guilty though from time to time of retrieving the occasional song from a p2p program.

I always use Eraser - if you just do a search for "eraser" on download.com you can get version 4.7. It's the best shredder ever - has Guttman built in which is 35 whipes.

But in all actuality there's absolutely no way to destroy all traces of data - the only way to destroy it to where it can never ever ever be recovered in the history of timeis to break the drive in to 1000000 pieces and sprinkle it in the ocean.

Otherwise there's always a way - even if you burn a drive or dip it in acid- Magnets are insane huh?
