laptop advice... is it worth upgrading?

i have an old 99 compaq laptop that i got for free is it possible to upgrade it or is it just not worth it?

I'm not familiar with that exact laptop model, but personally, if it's an old and outdated laptop I wouldn't bother spending your money on upgrading it.

yeah im putting xp on it right now aws but i plan on using for a timing evice for my slot car trac kand for my virtual dj bc i can't lug an alienware to partys

You could max out the memory to 256MB and install a wireless card, but that's about it.

And get a nice battery for it, the older batteries don't really work.
