USB device not recognized?

About a week ago, I began receiving this message in the bottom right corner, were it says that my "USB device" was not recognized, and it has malfunctioned. However, I don't have anything plugged into any of my USB ports. I've even tried disabling that false device to no avail.

However, every once in a while, it says that the USB device can now be
ejected, then quickly reverts to the previous error. Can anyone help me?

any chance youve a card reader in your computer, those things connect to the usb pins on the mobo (i think) and that may be causing it

Sorry, I don't... I forgot to mention that I have a laptop also, which may help.
