Okay. so this summer I have been wokring and saving up some money so I got enough saved up, but i wanna spend a little bit of it on my pc. I wanted to knwo what you guys thought would be the best upgrade for me for around $200. Here are my specs.

-AMD Athlon 64 3000 s939

-Gigabyte GA-K8U-ULi mobo

-Asus 6600 AGP

-2x512 mb ram pc3200

-160GB Seagate IDE HDD, 8mb cache, 7200rpm

-Nec DVD Burner and Sony CD rom

-Raidmax 380watt psu

Since my mobo only has an AGP slot i kinda ahve two options, get the best AGP card out right now since they will stop making them soon, or buy a new mobo with pci-Express and get a new pci-Express videocard. Because I'm pretty satisfied with my rig except for my videocard, its holding me back, and im lagging a little in games like Doom 3 and HL2. So what do you guys think I should do for around $200. I was considering a good deal on this 7800GS AGP for only $205 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16814130046

but iono if it'd be a waste to stil buy an AGP card. What do you guys thinki I should do?

Don't spend all that money on an aging technology like AGP. Maybe you can go for more ram, or get a mobo with PCI-express slots.

Could be your CPU holding you back as well... everything can pretty much only go as fast as the slowest part... :p 939's are pretty cheap.

3800 x2 - 152.00

ASUS mobo - 53.00

7600GS - 110.00

This way you can keep the rest of your parts... ram, drives, etc...
the only thing you MIGHT have to upgrade is the PSU...

The thing is I don't want to realy spend too much money if it's nto going to be that big of a difference. So do you guys think I should upgrade to pci-Express with socket 939 and buy a new s939 mobo, or do you think I should wait for more mobey and upgrade to pci-E with AM2 and get an AM2 X2 processor, some ddr2 ram, and a good pci-E videocard, maybe even a G80 when they come out? Do you think I should keep my rig the way it is until I can make the full jump to Pci-Express with AM2, or even possibely intel with the Conroe. What do you guys think? I dont wanan spend money now and then have it become junk in like a couple months.
