Autorun on USB HDD

okay, My USB HDD always tries to autorun something whenever I plug it in. this is a cause for concern because the reason I have it was because I used it to back up the files before reformatting my HD, there is a very good chance it is infected with something, and I don't want to erase it. I have tried using Trojan Guarder to Deny Autorun, but it only stops CDs from running their programs when I insert them. How can I set it so I don't have it start to autorun when I plug it in? so far I have been ably to catch it and abort it as it loads all the files it wants to run, but I would rather not have to worry about that.

If you think it's infected the first thing you need to do is run your AV when you've got it plugged in...
