If you have a budget of less than $1,100 then you (not you literally) shouldnt expect to get an Uber-gaming computer either. AM2 isnt that much cheaper, and I guarantee that it wont make a huge difference if you have a $1,100 budget, and need to buy a monitor and OS.

Question: Why hasn't AMD broken the 3GHz mark yet? What on EARTH are they waiting for?

why is it a barrier? AMD have made a deliberate choice to avoid 3ghz+ processors. if you'll notice that the P4 Northwood core really didn't go over 3ghz, that is due to problems AMD just simply don't want to bother with. besides AMD have better strategies brewing

Okay true true, I give in, it is not an uber gaming machine, but it still is pretty good, I got a build out for 990 with AM2 that my friend wants me to build because he doesnt have cash for conroe, it is his cash, I advised him on Conroe, his choice. =P

It flies too. I dont care what anyone says lol. Its a gaming machine... 100+ fps maxed in HL2??? Thats gaming my friends...
