Hello, I am working on upgrading my graphics card, and I am not sure if I am overkilling things here.

My current set up is:
3400+ AMD S754, 512L2
Biostar K8NHA Grand MB
GeForce FX5200 128MB Graphics card AGP
1GB PC3200 DDR 400 RAM

I am running this on a 915N samsung monitor.

I am looking into getting one of these,
the BFG 6800 GS http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16814143045

or one of these 7800 GSs

What i do know know, if getting the higher priced ones would be an over kill to my system or not.

I know that the graphics card is currently the bottleneck, and I want to bring it up to speed so that I can play games again. Looking into games like Ghost Recon Advanced Warfare, AOE3, Oblivion, etc.

I will locate a power supply that will work once I know what type of graphics card I should get. should I get one of those? or a 7600 GS? too many choices and I have no clue about how to tell if things are bottlenecked or not. Basically I don't want my graphics card to be the bottleneck anymore. but I don't want to drop too much into the system either, since I am only planning on keeping it for maybe another year or two before I do a complete overhall.

So what do your guys think?

Thanks for reading!

if you're just going to have the system for a year then go with the 6800GS. the 7800GS isnt overkill at all and you could use the power so if you can invest the money go for it, though the 6800GS should prolly be good for the next year.

That's funny, the 6800 GS is the exact card I recomended to my dad the other day for an upgrade. He also has the FX 5200 :)
