Hey guys, im looking to buy a whole new rig, ive picked out some parts that im interested (i want to spend basically a max of 2500, although their is some lee-way :p) basically i need to know of any better parts i should be going with, or should i go with conroe (not up to speed to well with cpus atm :p) - but yeah, basically any input is welcome :)

Oh also, i really want a 7950gx2 but now im not sure if is should hold out till the dx10 cards come out.

Video card - Geforce 7950GX2
CPU - AMD AM2 Dual Core 4600+
Mother Board - ASUS M2N-SLI-DELUXE
Ram - 2 Gig Corsair DDR400 - should i get ddr800?
Hard Drive - 250 Gig Seagate SATA
PSU - Cooler Master Real Power 550W SLI - 550w is enough right?
Case - NO CLUE, been looking at HEAPS of cases and cant find a good one :(

any advice appreciated guys :)

hey, you shouldnt get 7950GX2, are you getting one or two, one isnt any good, and two is a waste of money even wehn it bottlenecks with the C2D. So, ill help you make a computer, you should switch to intel core 2 duo, as they aRE better. you should wait for the X1950XTX, or the DX10 card. im sure what gfx card you have now copuld hold you till DX10.

lol r u kidding me, 7950gx2 doesnt bottleneck a c2d, and yes get ddr2 800, and i honestly see no problem with you getting the 7950gx2. Seeing as it's the best single card solution at the moment. But i think you should have room in your budget for c2d, they oc so much more and are more efficient than amd, so hears a little build for ya just to think about.

I think he meant the conroe is the bottleneck. hense why he mentioned the processor at all.

do not wait for the x1950xtx... the 7950gx2 is better.. stick to that card.... x1950xtx is a small margin better than the x1900xtx... stick to the gx2 you won't regret it

the 7950gx2 wont even come close to bottlenecking any of the conroes.

Bottleneck? Nope, not here.

And the 7950GX2 obliterates the X1950XTX.

you sound like a damned robot saying the same things all the time!!!!! you and your... NO BOTTLE NECK jibberish.. yes we are glad you learned something new!! ahahahaha.....

and ya.. sadly the 7950 does obliterate the x1950xtx :(

the 1950 isnt supposed to beat the **** 7950...ati is just stupid for calling it something it ISNT. It doesn't have two gpus and it doesnt have a 550 dollar price tag..

Well, the X1950XTX is not a bad choice, dependin on what resolution your goin to be playin your games at. The 1950 beats the 7950GX2 in most benches at resolutions of 1024*768 and 1280*1024. I mean, if you're gettin a 19" LCD (or have one) and the max resolution is 1280*1024 then i'd say the 1950 not only cuz of the performance, but its a lil cheaper. If your playin games as 1600*1200 or greater, then the 7950 is def. the way to go. Heres a link for benches (resolutions from 1024*768 to 2560*1600: http://www.tomshardware.com/2006/08/23/ati_radeon_x1950xtx/index.html

For a CPU i'd go with C2D, e6600 at the least.

another thing, you could get a 7600 or X1600 till DX10 cards come out then get a DX10 card so you won't be stuck tryin to sell a high-end DX9 graphics card.

Edit: for namin the 1950, what else would they name it? X2--- will most likely be R600.
