Yes, that AM2 will do you nicely. By making that change you just extended the lifespan of your MoBo/CPU by a couple of years.

And the advise that b1gapl gave concerning PSU's is worth noting.

True. But is it worth saving 40-50 US$ while putting 400-500 US$ of hardware on the line?

I admit, it is tempting to try and save the $'s.

you said you already bought ram and video card. you have to tell us what they are for us to recommend what type of cpu/mobo to get. different mobos/cpus use different video card interfaces and different types of ram. unles we know what you have, we might recommend incompatible cpu/mobo.

as for PSU, get something like this
