i have a question about dual channel

you said they're both pc3200... thats very strange...


try putting the sticks in different slots... instead of 1 and 2, try 1 and 3... or try to choose the speed in the bios..
 
tried to change it through the bios wouldn't do anything, I do have 4 slots though right now they r in 1 and 3 like the old stuff should I try like 2 and 4? 1 and 2 have white on the ends and 2 and 4 have black don't know if that matters any
 
try all the combos and see what happens...

try 1 and 2, then all the other combos...
 
nope no luck oh well at least my parents still got alot of speed going from 256mb up to 1gig
 
i'm guessing your motherboard doesn't support dual channel then. if its AMD socket A or 754 then definitely it won't support dual channel. i know some socket 478 intel don't support dual channel, but a lot do. could just your mobo!
 
its in dual channel the only problem i am having is that it went from 400MHz down to the old rams speed of 333MHz but it is still in dual channel
