Serial vs USB ports

How high data transfer rate is achevied in USB ports why this is not possible in serial port

USB has more bandwidth, and has its own power source.

Same concept on why PCI-e is faster than AGP.

Serial ports are very old. Their transfer speed is very slow, i remember using a Serial digital camera from 01, and it was very slow.

USB can go up to 120MB per second, and as low as 11MB/s.
