Can someone explain to me what L1 and L2 Cache are in a processor, what it is, what it does, and what i should be looking for in a high performance PC thanks

These are memory allocations utilized by the CPU to store frequently used data.
I believe that L1 resides on the CPU itself and that L2 is located nearby on the MoBo, I would verify the veracity of that statement before you take it to heart.

CPU cache is basically a small amount of really fast memory the CPU uses to reduce the time taken to access other memory sources in the system
L1 is usually the smaller of the 2, generally companies only quote the amount of L2 cache outright, at that's usally the only part I pay attention to Your average CPU will have 2MB or L2 cache, and some of the newer CPUs will have 4MB (like mine weeee )
