since they say there is no way to permanently delete files on the computer, how can i check to see what my kids are doing on the internet even if they attemp to erase the internet history.

you can set parental control or blocking software so they can't delete the history without being asked for a password.

There is backup software that will let you view old cookies, but it costs alot of money.

Also there are ways to write over data so that it is as good as gone. I doubt kids would do that tho.

They probably don't know how to erase cookies and some of the logs that IE leaves behind.

But then again, CCleaner would clean all that.

I can't judge you as a parent because I am just some 15-year-old-kid. But is watching over stuff they do on the internet the right thing to do? If you have taught your kids properly, you wouldn't have to watch over everything they do, you already trust that they know right from wrong.

I don't know, but I just hate when people are watching over me when I'm doing things. Not because I am doing anything wrong, I just don't want them to know what I am doing!

Maybe instead of monitoring what they are doing, you can just talk to them about the internet and how to use it safely.

There are key loggers and other shadey programs that will tell all, But I agree to some degree with rocky but the internet is a dangerous place.

I did some stupid stuff when I was a kid but thank god I was still alive to learn from them. I feel your pain I have two girls and when they get older I don't know what I am going to do. Is locking them up until they are 20 against the law??? :D J/K

But dude if you are trying to stop 14 - 17yr old boys from surfing porn good luck.

when they say nothing is deleted from a computer they mean.. the data is still on the drive (even if empty'd from recycle bin) until something overwrites it.

So you wouldnt have a hope in **** getting say.. a 100mb program that you deleted over a year ago back.

But there is alot of software out there that will help you monitor what your children do online.

dude thanks for the concern, but my children are eight and ten, and i'm not going to wait until one of these internet freaks prey on them, because kids now are just like i was: curious. once you have your kids then hit me back.

Well once they get to teenagers I wouldnt be watchign everything they do, its invasion of privacy. I know I caught my dad reading all my MSN convos once.. I was pretty ****ed.

But now I know more about PCs then my dad and I have my own anyways.

wise words spoke by such a young one, im impressed! ;)

you'll never block your kids if they become computer geeks, cause they'll learn to by pass alot of stuff :) just like me and the blocking crap at school :)
