this is my budget

"PC with a Flat Panel-
Dell OptiPlex GX620 3GHz / 512 MB RAM / 40GB HD / 48Xcdrom
Dell 1704 Flat Panel Monitor
appx. $ 756.00 ea.

appx. shipping: $55.00 ea."

this is what my job place spends to get a PC and was wanting to see how good i could get for this much. they would provide the OS. and tax shouldn't be considered.

Don't get a Dell if you ever plan on modding/upgrading/overclocking.

Buying a Dell is like leasing a car. You can't do anything with it other than just... Using it.

sorry i was rushed when i posted. i was wondering if anyone would spec me a PC to better the specs that my job is currently buying. it will have to be stock, no OC'ing or any modding and it will be strictly a "office" computer. no games. it can have onboard sound and video. it just needs to be as fast as possible and stable. please "build" me one

Which case were you needing?

Mini Tower
Desktop
Small Form Factor
Ultra Small form factor

I will work up a quote-PM me the info.

Originally I put the OEM e6300 but remembered that it doesnt come with a heatsink/fan, the retail comes with the hsf. Decent aftermarket hsf's range from $20 and up. Before the price was $813.36 before rebates with the OEM cpu, but now its jumped to $825.72 before rebates, slightly over budget, but after rebates it comes out to $785.72.

i'm at "work" right now and kind of busy. go figure. but i love these so far. when i get home or later if it slows down or the boss leaves i'll try to really look at these and see what i can evolve into a killer budget machine. just glancing at these i see that the first one i dont need that high of a video card i think. and the second one i at least want 1gb RAM and dont need an OS so on both i see where i can tweak some. but i really want a conroe processor. i'll be back. again thanks

For a work PC, all you need is a quiet machine with a video chipset, not a video card.

And i guess a quiet machine is a must...

I agree with Nukem's build, except i would add CD-RW and 512MB RAM to it.

right i wouldnt even want to have to use a video card unless the mobo doesnt have it.

i really would like it to include either the 6300 or maybe even the 6400 intel and at least 1gb Ram. and i do think i need a CD-RW which i dont have now but we are going Electronic Medical Record soon so i will need that ability.
