My Dell laptop power adapter broke off and apparnetly i need a new mother board which is 5-600$. its a p4 3.2 HT 512 Ram Inspiron.

I was told I can use the 3.2 HT P4 processor in a desktop PC. Can you guys help me determine what would be needed to incorporate this processor into a quality yet cheap desktop PC. I dont do high end gaming or anything like that.

Wish list

1) Cheap
2) P4 HT 3.2 compatible motherboard
3) preferably upgradable to better processor in the future
4) preferably supports ddr 2 ram
5) A screwless case

Im not sure what a good motherboard would be.

A couple potential coponents ive considered incorporating are below.

how old is your dell?

If its still in warranty you should ship it back to them to get it fixed.

Unfortunatly its over 1 year..allmost 2 I think. I only had the one year warrenty.

I was originally thinking of trying to buy a laptop that didnt have any rm or a processor and I could use my P4 and 512 M of ram in that. Didnt have much luck finding such a scenario.

Do you think its a good idea to use my P4 3.2 in a desktop....or perhaps some ideas on where to find a new cheap mother board for my dell.
