Hi,

I am currently building my first computer and have a budget of around £500 (that roughly calculates to $940). All i need is the computer itself - i already have a screen, speakers, mouse, keyboard etc.

These are the parts i have chosen on ebuyer.co.uk and was wondering if there is any parts that don't work with each other or if some stuff just doesn't make sense:

1x Athlon 64 4600 Dual Core 2.4GHz 512kb L2 cache AM2 940 pin
1x MSI K9N Platinum nForce 570 socket AM2 retail
1x Corsair (VS512MB533D2), 512MB, DDR2, PC4200, 533MHz, 64Mx64, non-ECC, 240pin DIMM, unbuffered, CL4
1x Asus 7600GS SILENT 512MB DDR2 PCI-E
1x Western Digital WD2500KS Caviar SE 250GB 7200RPM SATA2/300 16MB Cache - OEM
1x LG GSA-H10NBAL 16x16DVD±RW 12x RAM Dual Layer Writer Black - Bare Drive
1x PCICASE CS2600-BKS1 Hyperline II Black/Silver ATX Tower Case - No PSU
1x Hiper 580W Type-M Black PSU - SLI Certified with APFC

Firstly, is there anything i've missed off (extra fans, cables etc.)?

Secondly, are there any changes you would make and are there any problems (is the case too small, do i need more ram)?

Thanks,

Jamie Salter

i'll question your choice of ram.. just 512mb?!

it looks like its gonna be a high performance rig, so you should go for 2 X 1gb pc6400 dual channel kit

also, your video card.. i don't know much about prices in the uk, but the 7600 512mb edition seems pointless.. as thats too much memory for a weak card like that... either save some money and go for the 256 version, or upgrade to a 7600gt 256mb edition.. or if you want to splurge go for x1800xt or 7900gt..

Looks good, but I agree with what aliasaid. Get 2x1gb ram and get the 256mb edition of the 7600.

I understand what you're saying, but 800Mhz (pc6400) memory is too expensive for 1024mb or even 2048mb. The way i see it i either go for:

1x 512mb PC6400
or
2x 512mb PC4200

It is likely that I'll go for the first option then as i get more cash may upgrade at a later date.

What do you guys suggest?

Have you tried www.overclockers.co.uk

This place IS the cheapest place i have found in the UK.

Postage is near £10 whatever you buy! ... so of course... if you buy all your parts from them you will save quite a bit on postage!

Geil ram 800Mhz with 4.4.4.12 timings is dirt cheap. (2x1gb DDR2) for £140... for 2 gigs of highly overclockable ram thats GOOD!
