Sooo I've been shopping around lately. I recently bought my new processor (amd x2 4600+) and I am looking to get a nice new video card. I found an X850XT PE on Newegg for $170 and thought that was a really good deal. I've heard good things about this card, but I'm wondering whether it will be able to handle the next wave of high-end games.

The whole X800 series was not good, and ATI lost a lot of popularity because of it. The card had major OpenGL problems and shader problems. Thats not even counting that it doesn't support Directx 9c. Go with the X1800GTO. The X1800/X1900 series is much better.

The X3,5,7,800 Series was a bit of a failure when the GeForce 6 series was out, the X800 ran quite hot and often had failures, OpenGL sucked on it. I would get either a 6800 or a 7600 because they can support the latest shader modeland should beat the X850. The 7600 often beats the X1800 but if youre an ATi fan then yes go ahead with the X1800.

lol.. its not whether he's an ati fan or not.. its whether you're a die-hard nVidia fan :p

you're comparing 7600 to the x1800xt? plz!!

This is justy my suggestion, go with the Radeon x850 xt. Its only 120. Then save up and wait until the next generation of graphics cards to come out and kick the **** out of what we have now.
