supplying gfx card power

i have an 7900gt. it has the additional power connection on the card itself which i have connected to the powersupply. should i also connect the pcie 12v connection on the motherboard to the powersupply. it also sends power to the x16 slot.... the motherboard is a gigabyte dq6...

There's a PCI-Express power connector on the mobo? Weird.

If I were you I'd plug it in....maybe for some kind of stability....but just because I'd do it doesn't mean you should

looks like a pcie connector...but should just be a 12v connector for the cpu

In the MB's manual it explained that the connection is pcie 12v expressly for the pcie x16 slot to provide stability. I guess all provide all of it w/ power... is this ok? it's 7900gt not overclocked or vmod'd...
