I have recently changed the connection my monitor uses from vga to dvi.Seeing as it's now at using dvi I thought it would be better, but before I could set my monitor to 75 hertz. Now I've switched to dvi the dropdown menu doesn't show 75 hertz, just 60 hertz.

To change the refresh rate I:

Right click on desktop
click on properties,
click the settings tab,
click on advanced,
click on monitor tab
and use the dropdown box.

If I deselect "Hide modes that this monitor cannot display" I can obviously select 75 hertz, but I don't want to damage my new monitor. I know it can however do 75 hertz because it was on 75 hertz when I was using vga. So why now doesn't it show it? Does dvi have a refresh rate limitation or something?

To be honest, I really need this to be at 75 hertz.

What should I do?

Thanks for the help.

Is it an LCD or CRT? I know with a CRT it will change how fast it redraws the screen, however on a LCD it can be on 60 Hz and be just as good a screen as 75 Hz.
