admittedly I am not a gamer, but I do deal with a lot of multitasking and 3D mechanical design software such as Solid Works, Autocad and some Ansys.

And when I want to look at porn I want it really really fast.

Think I could get around 3.0ghz out of the E3300?

if the ram will let you give it a lil oc, you shouldnt have a problem overclocking to 3.0 ghz.. and you mean e6300 right?

hrmm.. i noticed something about the conroe's... they've gotten rid of hyperthreading and added a new "Virtualization Technology Support" what is that?

newegg needs to make up their minds... they keep changing the e6300's and e6400's from conroe to allendale.. they need to just leave it as one! making my searches difficult! haha

oh wow!! thats the cheapest i've seen anywhere!! thanks for that... that just may have increased my chances of ordering my allendale this friday!

actually.. i may still wait, mobo may come first, its hard to choose... i wanna wait for sli board... but i don't know if i'll ever use sli

apparently the Gigabyte DS3 is the best board for overclocking the core 2 duo right now

it's tough to rationalize all this spending on untested hardware, mobos with buggy bios, and all of it being expensive.

Do it anyway :)
