I have an amd athlon 64 3500+ socket 939.

I was wondering if i get an athlon 3500+ socket am2 if i will notice a difference?

And with ddr2 ram?

No difference mate, just if you can purchase a socket AM2 mobo, you can obviously get the newer processors that AMD decide to bring out. last time i checked AM2 is socket 940, so a 939 processor will run in this socket. Hope this helps lad.

so a socket 939 will run in the am2 socket?

I know i'd need a new motherboard but i need a new one anyway.

No, socket 939 processors motherboards and ram are not compatible with socket AM2 processors motherboards or ram.

npe no diffrence but when amd decides to release their next gen cpus you will be able to use it on the am2 mobo and ramconfiguration

well conroe is leading atm but thats because they are 65 nm processors, when amd bring out their next gen processors (in am2) they will be 65nm and then they will rival conroe. bit off the subject but thought id let you know anyways in case your considering getting a cheap am2 now so you can upgrade to next gen, (in bout three months)
