I don't think the GHz make that much of a difference if they're pretty close to eachother. 270Mhz of clock speed will not be noticed that much. Plus, the e6700 and e6600 are virtually the two most powerful processors in the Core 2 Duo line... both of them top the AMDs. A big difference would be e6600 to x6800 which is like 500Mhz, but it's like... 1.1k or something more :O

Don't buy top of the line because your gonna be paying hundreds of dollars more for a speed increase that isnt even that huge!

It also might be better to wait for the 3.2Ghz Core 2 Extreme to come out and the Quad Core (Kentsfield) one. You'll see a bigger price drop. The Core 2 Duo's just came out.. so they're gonna be really expensive... remember P4's when they first came out little did we know they would be crushed soon after by the AMDs. That's not to say that core 2 duos will be crushed though lol.. but AMD will be brewing something and then for the sakes of competition, we'll see price drops probably.

True, but I can't seeing someone going out and buying something that really isn't necessary when they can save some of their hard earned money in the process.

soemtimes those people don't need to save anymore money ;)

ya just flippin overclock the e6600. stability will be no problem.

Just read a overclocking guide in the modding and OC'ing section.

you can get like an even more insane gfx card or something with the money you save and that will help you out the most when playing games.

ya... the fsb stock is 233 or something like that.. and stardard ram is ddr2 800.... soooo, if you don't oc.. your stupid.. because it wouldnt even be running the ram at 400 mhz..
