What can I reuse

Im wanting to build a good gaming pc that can play all the latest games on High no problem.

What can I reuse from my current pc?

Windows XP Home
Intel Pentium 4, 3000Mhz
Intel Bay field D865GBF
1024mb DDR SDRAM ( 2 x 512 )
BFG Tech Nvidia Geforce 6200 ( 256mb )
AC'97 Audio Controller - Built into motherboard
150gb Hard Drive

I was think I could reuse....

Dvd/cd rom

Case - Maybe?

Then I would need a...

yeah you could re use that stuff and perhaps the memory as well depending on what you want to go with.

na i wouldn't reuse the memory, unless you had a tight budget..

Well if you are on a tight budget you could re-use the memory and buy two more 512MB sticks, adding up to 2GB. You could always re-use the case if your new motherboard is the same formfactor and as long there's enough space for the new hardware.

My budget is maybe $1000 CAN ? Give or take a hundred or so

- What im worried about is todays GFX card be out of date soon because of DX10? Should I just wait till they come out

Theres a company that has a 90day stepup program that lets you send your current card back and for some extra cash upgrade to something else. I think EVGA is the one that does that. You might want to look into that.

That's not including a case, and I didn't want to choose a lower end video card. You could use your old one or just change something. As for the graphics card being out of date, it happens to all parts, way too quickly. Might as well get it now. Chances are you won't upgrade to a new DX10 card right when it comes out anyway, nor will many other people.

Alright... will the 7900GT last me atleast a year or so?

Also I dont think my case will work. What case would be good? Maybe have a clear side.. im guan want lighting in it sometimes

Unless you feel the sudden urge to upgrade. It's one of the top cards now, should be able to play any game at high settings without a problem. I would say I'm 100% sure of that but I've never used one before. And if you feel the need you can add in a second one because that motherboard supports SLi. I'd say you're safe.

As for the CPU, you should be able to do some overclocking on that thing.

Dam tax and shipping kills me, its almost 1500 with all that. Its worth it.. I guess ill just start saving!

eh by the time I get the money there will be better stuff out!
