The fan on my Radeon 9800 has started whirring somewhat loudly, intermittently. I removed the card and blew out all the dust with a can of compressed air, but it hasn't solved the problem.
My assumption is that the fan is dying. Though, when I put my hand underneath the card while it's running, there's no airflow problem-- the fan is spinning fully, and properly. Is there any way I can monitor the fan's activity via software? Because I'm afraid the fan's going to stop without my knowing it, and the card's going to fry.
What do I look for in replacement fans for this particular card? Obviously, I don't want to spend much money on a GPU this old.
Thanks!
