Just a thought, have you looked into core 2 duo e6600 im sure you can get a mobo priced the same as the mobo you have, the only thing you would have to change is the mobo/cpu.

Not telling you to get it, just a thought.

Didn't really think about it. I mean, i went to check the website when it was released and it only had one which cosed 1500 bucks, the amount of money i'm willing to spend. However, i took another look just now and they have more. The only one i could get is the Core 2 Duo 2.13 Ghz. If anyone thinks that it's better than the AMD X2, let me know.

zipzoomfly, and monarchcomputers both have some of the cheapest core 2 duo prices. e6600 should be in your budget if not, the e6400 will do great. Although i recommend the e6600 the most out of all of the c2d cpu's.

The only thing that will hold you back is waiting for them to come back into stock. If you dont want to wait, i highly recommend getting the x2 4400+ then just ocing it 200mhz to the x2 4600+, i know that your friend doesnt know much about ocing, but any knucklehead can do that.
