Hi all,

I hav about 8 Bad Sectors on my hard drive and have recently found out that they can be resolved by 'de-magnetising/magnetising' each of the bits?

I have found a few freeware programs that will only fix one Bad Sector.

Do the bad sectors effect my computer in anyway or are they ignored?

Does anyone know of any software (preferably free) that i can use that will fix them for me?

Or any other suggestions woiuld be gratefully recieved

Usually manufacturers diags can do that. BUT. Once a drive starts to develop bad sectors it will usually continue to develop more until it dies. Keep an eye on new bad sectors and make sure the drive stays backed up.

I agree with Rakesh's solution ... But just in case the the drive is already out of warranty .....

Low-level format the drive n' then zero fill it . If this eliminates the bad sectors ..then the damage is not physical ..n' u can continue to use the drive without any trouble...

On the other hand if the drive still shows bad sectors after the low-level format n' zero fill ..... Then u better replace the drive b4 u start losing the data on the drive.
