USB malfunction

my usb ports i the front of my pc do not work. when i plug in my usb drives (like 3 different ones) they port says "device not recognized" or "unknown device".... the ports in the back work, but not the front ones. i tried to uninstall them, then update the drivers, i even tried checking some option i need to enable in the bios, but nothing works?!?
what could i do now?

did you build this system or buy it? sounds like the mobo USB jumpers got pulled or disconnected. check to make sure that they are secure

My mobo doesn't have jumpers, but most do. Check to see if they are plugged in.
