Windows CD Key

So know I finally got a valid cd key. I am planning on reforating and reinstalling windows again. If I do this and use the same cd key as I have know will it still activate, validate on microsoft and get past wga?

If you reformat don't install the Validation tool through windows update.

Huh? Why? I just want to make sure that if I reinstall windows I will still be able to get past the retarded genuine pop ups and be able to download from microsoft.
