All I need is a cd/rw drive and a fan. I really dont know how to pick out those two things any Ideas?

go for socket AM2... pretty much same price as 939.. but its more recent and will probably be compatible with future AMD sockets..

if this is for gaming, you'll do better to not get a sound card, and put it towards a better video card, like a 7900gt. also, you can manage the funds so that you have 2 gigs of ram... stick to dual core.. oh and your case link doesn't work..

here i'll build you a better system..

there is no sound card, so you'll use the integrated stuff.. but its a really good trade off since you're getting better memory and a better video card..

ya.. you can change some things.. but i'd take my build over yours.. cuz you can always add a sound card later on.. but upgrading ram or video card will be more expensive in the future..

Ok well urs seems cool. lol.

Umm is the fan that comes with your case good?

When I said under $1000 that was just a rounding guess I can probly still afford a sound card urs is 914.94

There isnt any piece Im blanking on is there?

The build Alias suggest is a very nice rig for the price. As for the case i have it in blue and the 2 fans work great, and are very quiet

about one pin if i remember correctly but socket 940 Opty's aren't compatible since they are in differnet arrangmentss plus the AM2 socket was designed to offer higher speeds on the FSB and other stuff such as RAM thats why it uses DDR2

personally i think theres no point getting a 4200+ because it offers practically the same performance as the 3800+

ps. i can sympathise, im only 14 too
and i live in australia
AAAHH the conversion rates!

well the 4200+ is very close in price to the 3800+ so its worth it... especially if they plan on overclocking one day, its a lot nicer to have a multiplier of 11 than 10
