Swaping Platters between Good And Damaged HardDisk

I have 3 Maxtor discs 40 GB same models.

1 is with many data files that I need. And completely not recognizable from the bios.
Disk Check Said that there is serious error in Reading Head and the controller.

the other 2 disks are OK.

I Open the damaged disk and carefully remove the Platter
open one of the good HD and place the platter there
then run it ,
but the header of the disk start moving up and down
and the disk did not appear in the BIOS even.

is there other option to get the data back

Have you tried a data recovery program, I'm not sure it will work because you said the reading head was not working but it's worth a try. I haven't tried any of them so I don't know what there like.

i am hardly surprised it's not working. it is almost impossible to open a hdd in anything but a clean room and still have it work. let alone opening it in a normal room, handling the platters and probably unscrewing them with a magnetised screwdriver.

ya, getting even 1 sped of dust on the platter *****s it ,, youd have to send it away for profession data recovery now me thinks
