**** **** **** this is a really important file did i just mess up any hcance of getting it back?
accidentally blanked a word document, can i recover it?

Undeleting Software will not recover your file because you
did not delete it, did you?
there is one small trick you can check,
When you modify word Doc file usually MsOffice Word crate a
temp file in the directory where the original file is.
this temp file look like this "~$w Microsoft Word Document.doc"
If the doc is forced to close , or etc behaviours. the temp file is saved this on the PC.
I beleive there is no such file where your original is
but
you can check for that file in
C:\Documents and Settings\YOUR_USER_NAME\Local Settings\Temp
You also can run search on the disc for part of the file name
If nothing was wrong with your file and in next moment the file got Blank - I am sure the real file is somwhere on your pc
and you are working with renamed temp file.
Also can you check if by accident you didn't make the letters WHITE color.
Is time to think for some sort of backup what ever is.
then if you working on the pc on few "on the rocks"
you can happly blank docs as much as you like.

I'm not sure if this will work or not but if you are desparate enough, no harm trying:
1. Have Ontrack EasyRecovery installed in ANOTHER computer and read up the Help file to learn about how to use it to retrieve lost data
2. Physically install the hard drive that has the document(s) you want in that computer as slave drive (I don't know if it will work if you install that hard drive as an external hard drive, say in an external hard drive enclosure)
3. Launch the EasyRecovery software
4. Pray hard that your wanted documents are still intact!
