Core 2 Duo Mobo Support

I am buying the Asus P5W DH Deluxe along with a Core 2 Duo E6600. after reading some reviews from newegg, It seems that the bios version that comes with the board does not support conroe, you have to get a bios update. my question is, how do i update the bios if the only proc that i have is the conroe? how will I know what bios version is on the board? if its the older version that doesnt support conroe, will it fry anything if i put in the conroe?

Download the bios and program from the asus program on a different computer.

Make a floppy - format it as a boot disk - load the bios and exe on.

Change the current BIOS boot order to the Floppy first.

that or prepare the new bios floppy/cdrom disk in advance before you replace your old hardware with your new one.

The bios not supporting the CPU should not prevent the compuer to POST, the main problems could be recognizing the CPU specs correctly [speed, name, name of core, revision etc] but it WILL work either way.

it should be fixed, the inital p5w boards released didnt suport conroe, but theres new batch coming out, which should be suitable
