service pack 2

i just re-formatted yesterday, only had a 2002 version of windows so now i need to install service pack 2, im just wondering if it'san absuloute need or if it makes a huge difference in performance and protection?

i know someone on TF, i think it's tyler1989, is runnign on only SP1.

IMO Sp2 is the worst thing you can do to your machine... Yes, there are vulnerabilities without the OS, but as long as you are careful, you have nothing to worry about.


SP1 is all you really need.

I have many cusomers who refuse to run SP2 mainly becasue it screws with ODBC connections. Personally, I run it on all mine and I have never had any real issues other than the occasional need of a system restore.
