overclocking

Its a considerable performance increase (download superPi to see for your self.)

Keep it under 55*C on full load and keep increasing until you hit a wall.

Be warned, overclocking is probally the most boring thing in the world.

Download Prime95 to test stability.

How much better will it make the computer run if you overclock it?

Depends on what you mean by "better."

Would that keep it cool enough for some overclocking?

Depends on how much you overclock.

If you only overclock a little, like myself (3500+ stock is 2.2GHz, i've got it at 2.4GHz), you won't need to have much, if any, extra cooling.

AMD's run fairly cool. Dual core's run a bit hotter because there's two cores. Generally for a mild overclock you don't need any extra cooling. You could get 400-600MHz out of that without extra cooling. Have fun!

ive never done overclocking before. you said it is the most boring thing in the world...is it worth it?

so how far would you recommend with the retail heatsink, 2x120mm fans and 1x80mm fan? (would those other case fans not really matter because they are not only on the cpu?)

Overclocking is defiantly worth it, I will do it with my next CPU even. It is pretty much watching paint dry doing it though.

Case cooling doesn't really matter too much, 2 120mm fans will provide optimul cooling. The heatsink will make a difference though.
