xp to 98 to xp

Had troubles with the restore cd, so i put 98 back in til i got the new restore cd from compaq....i still get an error with the new restore cd....what do i need to do to put xp back in.....it came with xp and i dont have the xp disk....please help...

what error do you get? a file read error and SIF read error?

I would fdisk it then format it, then use the restore cd

if you installed 98 over xp you would have screwed the boot files..

What sort of error message are we talking here?

you cannot put windows 98 over xp, 98 must be on the station first, you cannot install 98 over xp as xp is newer, as Warez Monster said, fdisk and restore it from a balnk HDD.
