While I was playing Battlefield 2, suddenly the game froze on me,
The HD light stayed on. I decided to reboot it.
It goes through the POST screen and then it gives me this message:
Reboot and select a proper boot device, or insert media into boot device and reboot. (can't remember the exact words)
I was thinking it could possibly be the hard drive. I've tried selecting it to start up with the dvd drive with a xp pro cd in there
but no luck. It gave me the same message, tried clearing CMOS, that didnt help either. My friend suggested pulling out the power plugs to the HD, DVD, and pull out the video card, that didnt work either. So I'm stumped. Has anyone come across this problem before? I would hate to lose all my data on the HD.
btw its a k8n-e, with 2x 512, ati 9700 all in wonder, WD 160GB (about 2 years old), and a sony dvd writer.
everything was purchased from newegg
