I had it installed today, but it wasn't reading all of my drive, so I reformatted and try to reinstall, but now I get a screen that says, "Windows could not start because the following file is missing or corrupt: <Windows Root>\system32\hal.dll. Please re-install a copy of the above file." What do I do? Do I so a Windows Repair? If so, what do I do when I get into the repair mode?

EDIT: Sorry about 2 of the same topics on this forum...

boot to the recovery console on your xp cd and use the expand command to get the file and restore it to the c:\windows\system32\ folder.

bellow is the command (X being your cd drive letter)

expand X:\I386\*.cab -f:hal.dll C:\windows\system32

let me know if that helps

Alright, I got this fixed, but I didn't use your suggestion, but I will remember it for future references, I just removed my Dynamic Drive Overlay (DDO) and it booted fine. Thanks A LOT. :-D
