I have seen that before. It's at X-Bit labs. But this still does not account for Intel not saying a single thing about Allendale at launch. That's what is really bothering me.

The manufacturers very rarely use the 'code names' anyways. The code names are typically only used internally, not directed to the public.

From a perspective of a technology, they are both "core" just with different amounts of cache. This is just the same as Venice vs San Diego. They were both K8, just as these are both Core. So to address the other point, no Allendale is not the new "Celeron." I have actually read that "Pentium" will now be used as the new budget brand name. I actually found that quite funny.

How is having a Toledo core sucky when everything beyond x2 4400+ including the FX - 60 have Toledo cores.... is it not better than a Manchester core?

well, it could just be misreading, check your cache on cpu-z, if its 512x2, then its just a misread
