No. 5472 is actually a little less stable than the Public build. Build 5456 was more stable then the public. So it seems that they took a step backward in that aspect.

Gaming will never be fully accomplish with Vista till its release. We have to realize that. Gaming is one of the last things on M$'s mind. They have to make it stable to function first before they can worry about game performance.

Windows Vista Build 5483, which has supposedly been released to TAP testers has now apparently leaked to the web. The full build string is as follows: 5483.winmain.060720-1900

The x86 DVD supposedly weighs in at 2,601.45 MB. A few screenshots have also surfaced onto the web, and can be viewed from the links below.

It has also been reported that RC1 of Windows Vista will be available through the Windows Vista CPP program on the 15th of August.

Update: It appears that Microsoft are making preparations at MS Connect, to release build 5483 to Windows Vista Beta Testers.

No More 5 Year Gaps In Windows

Microsoft CEO Steve Ballmer wrapped up a meeting with financial analysts Thursday by promising that the company would make sure it releases new Windows versions more quickly.

"We will never have a five-year gap between releases of flagship products," he said, referring to the gap between Windows XP's October 2001 release and the debut of Windows Vista, currently slated for January.

Microsoft has not said when Vista's successor, code-named Vienna, might ship or what features it will contain.

Despite the desire to make Windows releases more frequent, Ballmer said there will always be people trying to work on things that take years to make happen. "We just won't promise them to customers and hold up big releases," Ballmer said.

so it's a rc1 now?

also will people still be able to use vista home oremium if they din't have a mdeia center tv card?

No its not RC1 yet. That will be available to some of the poublic for the debacle they had with the Beta 2 download.

This was released to TAP testers which is even more limited than the Original Beta testers since they are even less TAP testers.

You can use Vista Ultimate even without the TV Card. I do.

Pretty much at this time yes. The Serials that are given are for the Ultimate edition. But you still have the options to use the MCE just without the TV Tuner. I still use it for movies and Music.
