I am buying a new PC, but before buying, there are some things I want to know. Maybe you can help me guys. Thanks!!

Questions:
1. I had a PC whose power supply is inside the case and is plugged in
into an AVR, according to my research... I must buy a case that do
not contain a power supply within the case. Can you clarify it for me?

2. What power supply and wattage will you recommend if I buy a dual
core and a nvidia 6800 card?

3. What PC cases are compatible, or should I say, will fit in with the
nvidia 6800 card in place and are ready for air cooling? (need brand
and models.)

4. Last question, what is the difference between intel sockets?
(478 or 973 or something?)

I went into this site because there are so many people that recommended me here, so please help me. I'm just a "newbie" when it comes to hardware, hopefully I'll learn more from you. Thanks in advance.

1) most powersupplies that come in cases are crappy (unless its an antec case). so most of the time its better to just buy a seperate power supply.

2) for a 6800 card probably a minimum of 450 watt is in order..
stick to the major brands: antec, OCZ, FSP fortron, enermax, etc..

something like this: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?item=N82E16817104954

3) any mid-tower or full-tower ATX case will fit.

4) different generations of processors fit on different socket motherboards. older pentium 4s ran on socket 478; newer pentiums run on socket LGA775. newest core 2 duo intel processors run on only certain LGA775 motherboards. same thing goes for AMD, their latest socket is AM2.
