My power supply just blew on me and need to buy a new one. It's an ATX power supply. Was wondering, do SATA cables work with ATA hard drives? I can't seem to find a power supply on the net with ATA connectors. Does anyone know a good power supply for Hope you can help :)

Many thanks

cheers, but does that mean, SATA cables word with normal ATA connections? Please excuse my stupidness

sata cables(power) have 5 wires(red,2 black, yellow, orange) the plugs are different than the plugs that regular ide drives use (no orange wire)
Any modern PS should have the connections you need. try not to be too cheap with the PS, look in the $50-$75 range

some of the Sata HDDs can use either type of power connection but IDE PS can only use 4 pin connectors

wicked thanks dudes. Does it matter what ATX case I have? I've noticed the power supplies I want have ATX2.0. does that matter?
