What are you smoking? I just put it together and its $1,948.00, not only that but the 15.4" screen is lower resolution. 1280x768 for the Alienware, vs 1440x900 for the Mac.

And what about battery life? I get 6 hours, that thing gets like 4. What about size and weight?

You're forgetting the DVD writer also.

And the Bluetooth adapter.

That and you have to use Windows, lol.


And yeah, if you don't go to the education store (where you buy Macs for cheaper and they never ask for proof that you go to a college ) they are cheaper, so that is why it was $2299. It would've been $1999

is 1999 not greater then 1799? Not to mention the graphics card on the Alienware is better. I would take the stuff like Bluetooth off the Mac but its not customizable enough

What are you talking about? The baseline Macbook Pro is 1799, so yeah.

The graphics card on the Alienware isn't better, they are the same. 256mb x1600 is about the same as a 256mb 7600... unless you're an Nvidia fanboy, you'd agree.

Actually the x1600 is better, it has GDDR3 with a 256-bit memory interface, where the 7600 has GDDR1 with a 128-bit interface.

you are correct but the 1799.00$ base mac book comes with these specs

So when asked which would I want for the money... I would go with alienware.

All I'm trying to do is get the best bang for my buck. I'm looking at performance and looking at price. I have nothing against apple but price wise it is clearly beaten. If anyone can come up with a better or equal build then the one I have made for the same or lower price, then I'm all over it. I donÂ’t necessarily want an Alienware, I just want my moneys worth.

i'm not against apple but why is only 10% of the computer market (including laptops) apple, there has to be a reason and its definetly not because consumers are stupid or ignorant.

ummm and just for some correction earlier.. the ati x1600 mobility is only gddr2.. just did me some research on it.. unless the mac has a hold on a better one?
