I just need a quick answer to the question: Which of the following comps is better in which ways. Some of them are Intel D 2.8ghz, while others are AMD X2 3800s, but then some are DDR while the other is DDR2 4200, etc...

Comp #1

Comp #2

both are expensive... i'd just build my own :p

but comp #2 is definitely better! only thing comp1 has is a video card.. but its really cheap.. the 7300LE sucks anyways.. and comp #2 has a free pci-express slot so you can always upgrade later... so ya.. i'd say #2.

Note - prices are in Can. dollars, not US dollars

Anyways, I won't really need a good video card anways, the only thing I really do is amateur music production, which means the most important things to me would be RAM and processor.

Is the fact that #2 has DDR while #1 has DDR2 negligeble?

ya that doesn't mean very much. the new amd processors support ddr2.. so if you want to get DDR2 you can get the new amd processors.. because that amd is a lot better than the pentium 4. prices on the AMD dual cores have gone down now.. so if you do build your own.. it won't cost you much!

conroe is set to be released soon.. i'd look into getting that as well...

if you do build your own.. there's also the option of the store putting it together for you for a small fee..

and a $40 fee for putting it together...

if you want a vid card you can add one.. this one is with integrated video.. you can also add in w/e OS you want..

total: $788 plus shipping/tax (depending on where in canada you live..)

up to you...
