I just got a computer today, and when I plug it in.. Nothing happens.. I plug it in both graphics card and motherboard, none of em work.

Is this from a mfg or did you try to build it?

I bought it from a friend.

There are a number of things to test. First of all, is there indication that power is getting to the unit? Is the motherboard light on? If not, have you tried plugging it into a different outlet? Is there a switch on the back of the power supply, and if so is it on?

Okay, I turned it on but i'm getting this weird error msg, blue screen, don't think it's the blue screen of death..

"A problem has been detected and windows has been shut down to preven damage to you computer..."

Etc..

Got any ideas?

All right, well that's an improvement... sort of. How far does it get in the boot up process? Can you boot it into safe mode?

Meanwhile, make a bootable CD from this file:
http://www.memtest86.com/memtest86-3.2.iso.zip

It will test the RAM on your computer to make sure it's good.
