HD surface bad?

i had this HD in a usb box for a year or so and of curse its ben bumped and dropped coupla times
itsa maxtor 7200rpm 200gb drive
so anyway it finally went down hardcore, takin about 80-100 gigs of my random chunks of data with it(it just dissapeared and windows would only register around 97gb on that drive)
i was able to recover about half of it
by using scandisk numerous times,thenchkdisk,no defrag yet,
and various tools from online
and it seems like theres an error either surface of whatever else at around 100--110gb because
when analysing with defragger the first half of it was untouched and the second half lost around 95% of the data,
basically all my stuff that i modified,moved, downloaded or else faqued with was gone or not registered.

as of now i have full 200gb registering but
i found 5326 0byte files on that drive
files that used to be pictures and music and all that stuff
not there used to be waaaay more of those empty files but they re recovered

so long story short what else i can try to recover my pictures and music and videos?

i forget where I saw it but you can send it to this company and they can recover all ur data

this company is really good they can recover burned and magnetized hard drives

its expensive though so they data should be important

search pcmagazine.com or pcworld.com to find the company
search like hard drive recovery or something

^Ive heard of that stuff.. Its EXPENSIVE as crap..

is the data THAT important? and can you get the pics and stuff back from online where you got them or from friends/family who might have copies, any old burned CDs...


As far as the actual drive, the heads might be mis-aligned....

no the pics were from my camera and some music i bought(and not) online
mostly all the music i got from my friend like 30 gigs of it
