wow... how very nice of you to say... but were trying to save him money for maybe a g80 down the road or something... which is why some of us suggested the 7600 gt... but i myself would say 7900... just because it kicks so much ***!!!

well, i'll just say, if you want to save money, get the 7600... but, if you really want to play full quality right now.. and you think you'll maybe be able to buy a geforce 8 in 1 year... then get the 7900... if your not sure.. go with the 7600.. because you WILL want a 8 series when they're out

Mr.Wooter- Are you talking about 128- and 256-bit memory interface or 128mb and 256mb memory size? They are very different. The higher the resolutions you go to, the more graphics memory is used. Memory interface is different, it just is how fast the GPU can send stuff to the video ram.

don't do SLI either go 7600 or 7900

basically you said you could sell your 6600 for $90 right?

well then you could potentially get the 7900 for $150 or the 7600 for $60 (once you sell the 6600 of course)

basically the 7900 is better than the 7600 becuase it uses 24 pixel piplines instead of 12 in the 7600.

in general you shouldn't have any problem with playing games w/ graphics maxed out. the main difference would be (i'm guessing) like 70-80 fps (7600) and 120fps (7900) when playing. so if ur not a hardcore gamer or just picky. i'd say go for the 7600gt over the 7900 because it's got a much better price for somebody on a budget and that's what if seems it's like for you.

ALSO both of these cards should come in 256mb and 512mb models and don't get any 128mb ones (if they even make them)

that's my opinion...can somebody tell him what roughly the fps difference would be. that's a very rough guess cuz i don't really know ur system you run on or anything.

OK thanks everyone.
And to Anthrax it was 2 different questions.
1. Does more video memory make it better at high resolutions
2. Does 128 bit or 256 bit matter for high resolutions.

i would say yes for both..

...And I would agree.

I'm gonna say go with the 7600GT. However, if you want to make $30 you can buy the 6600GT for $60 and sell your current one for $90. :)
