no a dell would not be fine because it would be again, at least $1000, and any other brand that can run WoW on medium settings is also at least $1000. YOU DO NOT, REPEAT NOT need a 7950GX2, buy a 7900GT, and WAIT for the new line of graphics cards coming out later this year by both ATI and Nvidia. and as for the processor. just to let you know the E6600s performance with 2GB ram is equivalent to the AMD Fx-62 with 2GB ram, and the FX-62 is $1000+ whereas the E6600 is like $330. so you DO NOT need to waste money on the 6800 Xtreme or w/e. just ge tht E6600, read about overclocking if you want, if not, leave it be. but contrary to what most people read. overclocking is NOT that dangerous. only if your SERIOUSLY stupid. just read guides, and ask questions, you will feel much more comfortable.

here is a list of parts you would need.

Intel Core 2 Duo E6600

Pick mobo when they come out

eVGA 7900GT 512MB

2x1GB Dual Channel DDR2 800, any of these brands: Corsair, Crucial, Patriot, G.Skill, OCZ

300GB Western Digital Caviar

NEC 3550A optical drive

any of these cases: Thermaltake Armor or Kandalf, Gigabyte Aurora 3D, CoolerMaster is also a good brand, the Thermaltake Shark or Tsunami are also good cases or the super lanboy, or Ante Sonata or Lian Li cases

Creative Audigy 2 sound card

Antec TruePower 550

few problems, the 4200+ has 1/4 of the cache the conroe has, and will be released, i think in like 2 days. it would be better to get hte 512MB version of the 7900GT seeing as how he wants power. onboard sound aint that good. a better gaming mouse would be the Logitech MX518, infact its a lot better. and a better gaming keyboard is the Saitek Eclipse or Logiteh G15, its his choice, he doesnt want a cheap keyboard if hes gonna be doing gaming. and the monitor is really pricey, a better gaming monitor, and for a lower price, but 1" smaller is the Viewsonic Vx922, im gettin ghtat one 2.

Heres what I would get if I was only getting a computer with nothing else. It just a little over 2,000$. I'm not to sure about the ram though, maybe some PC800 for a replacement.

again few problems here. the cpu has 1/4 L2 cache of the Conroe E6600. mobo is not such a great brand. no need to get 4GB ram if it will slow down windows xp pro 32bit, and if your gonna go for 64Bit xp pro, there is no point because many drivers dont support it so theres no point, and many programs too. again onboard sound is BAD. and the power supply is WAY to powerful for that system and there is no point in spending that much money on power uw ont use.

I'm very aware that Conroe is coming out, no need telling me how amazing it is. As I wrote in my first post, these are things you can get "right now". In terms of the Ram, I think with vista just around the corner, getting 4gigs is a good idea so in the future you donÂ’t have to hunt around trying to find the same ram you bought 5 months ago. As for the power supply... I just like big power supplies :D . Its all preference I guess.

Edit: Oh yes, forgot about the motherboard. You correct, this is not a very well known or used brand. But I think that this is the motherboard that some record was broken with FX CPU (not sure). It seamed to have good reviews as well so I figure what the heck, give them a shot.

well realistically speaking he is not going out TONIGHT or tomorrow night to buy these parts. its probably gonna take a good week to finalize, so i conroe would be the obvious choice. about the ram. when vista comes out, sometime 2007. the only people that are gonna be getting it are....well....OS buffs? because its definitely gonna be REALLY flawed. gonna be like another year until people transfer to it so no point in planning ahead a year when better ram is gonna come out, better processors, and better motherboards.

Yeah, I can understand that. Though I just feel uncomfortable recommending to people CPU's that arent out and motherboards that dont exist. Though I myself would go with a Conroe once they were released, and when I know more about them and their compatable motherboards.

I would get a conroe in a month when they come out and a 6600gt and in september get the g80. For now 2gb ram and when vista comes out and you buy/own it get the extra 2gb.

Also why not recommend it. Like some people said its coming out in days and we have real benchies. Only thing to differ is prices but I dont think hes ordering right this instance.
