Starting up new computer

Can anyone tell me if bios wouldnt come up when I first turn on my computer if I dont have a hard drive in. I figured it wouldn't matter and didn't want to wait a week for my hard drive so I figured Id set up bios but nothin happens.....hoping it's just because there's no hard drive or else i guess somethings messed up. The computer should post and then go into the bios the first time you turn it on and you dont need a hard drive. Theres something going on. Try reseting your CMOS.
